Punjab Retirement Rules Amendment 2026

NO.FD.SR-III-04-01/2026.:- In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 23 of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974 (VIII of 1974), Governor of the Punjab is pleased to make the following amendments in the Punjab Civil Services Pension Rules, with immediate effect:

AMENDMENTS

In the Punjab Civil Services Pension Rules:

1. IN CHAPTER III - DIFFERENT KINDS OF ORDINARY PENSION AND CONDITIONS FOR THEIR GRANT, in rule 3.5:

(a) In clause (i), for the words "or such less time as may for any special class of government servant be prescribed", the expression "or on attaining 55 years of age, whichever is later" shall be substituted;

(b) In clause(ii), after the words "misconduct or corruption", the expression "after completion of 20 years qualifying service" shall be inserted;

(c) in Note (1), after the expression "25 years qualifying service", the expression "or on attaining 55 years of age, whichever is later" shall be inserted; and

(d) Note (3) shall be omitted.

2.  In CHAPTER IV- AMOUNT OF ORDINARY PENSIONS, in rule 4.4, in sub-rule (1), in the existing proviso, at the end, for the "full stop", the expression"; and" shall be substituted and thereafter, the following shall be inserted:

"Provided also that:

(a) Voluntary retirement after 25 years qualifying service or on attaining 55 years of age, whichever is later; and

(b) Compulsory retirement after 20 years qualifying service;

Shall be governed under rule 3.5".
